Anxiety is a fear, real or perceived, of a place or things, or something happening. There’s often a specific cause or origin of such a fear and I can help uncover that. Many of us live with anxiety for so long that we can no longer see it as a perspective that has begun to damage our quality of life.
Once we identify the source or pattern of anxiety, we can begin to take steps together to lessen its impact. We can be curious about whether this fear is something that is necessary, or if it is time to reevaluate our relationship to those things that lead to these feelings. As with depression treatment, we can begin to rewrite the narrative of our lives, freeing ourselves from unwanted fears. In some cases, this may involve forms of exposure therapy where we try to take small steps of sitting with the feeling of fear with the newfound perspective and pay attention to the results. Often this leads to a new freedom.
